MGM Casinos Accused of Violating Wage Laws

May 6, 2020 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – A class action lawsuit has been filed against MGM Resorts International, for failing to pay tipped employees properly under federal wage laws.

The complaint alleges that MGM violated its employees’ rights by failing to inform them of the required tip credit provisions as required by federal law before paying them a sub-minimum base wage.  As a result, the complaint alleges that MGM is liable to all tipped employees for the full minimum wage for each hour worked, plus liquidated damages.


The lawsuit seeks to recover unpaid wages for all tipped employees who were paid a base wage that was below the minimum wage who worked anytime from May 6, 2017 to the present at the following casinos:


(1)  MGM National Harbor in Prince George's County, Maryland;

(2)  MGM Grand Detroit in Detroit, Michigan;

(3)  Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey;

(4)  Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Mississippi; and

(5)  Gold Strike Tunica in Tunica, Mississippi.
