Law Firm Investigating
Tobacco Surcharge Claims

For Immediate Release / Advertising Material

October 28, 2024 – McClelland Law Firm is investigating claims against Allied Universal for imposing higher health insurance rates on smokers.  This may be an unlawful penalty for tobacco use; if so, employees are entitled to a reimbursement of the overcharges.

Employers may charge higher premiums for tobacco use, but only if they meet certain strict requirements.  One requirement is that employers must give tobacco users a way to avoid the surcharge other than to simply "quit smoking" -- and they must give notice of the alternative option.

If you worked for Allied Universal within the last six years and paid a tobacco surcharge, you may be entitled to compensation.  Please E-Mail Us for more information.
